013 – horses and their buggies
i was in downtown nashville today. it’s a beautiful place filled with all the quintessential ‘downtown’ things. one of them being: the horse and buggy. now, i’ve never seen quite the thrill in riding in a vehicle with giant wheels that i can walk faster than. but maybe some people do! …i feel like riding in a buggy should only be done if your willing to wear a powdered wig and act British. now that’s pure entertainment.
i have one question when it comes to the ‘downtown’ horse-and-buggy. how exactly do you get your horse-and-buggy downtown? there’s no way that thing is going on the interstate! could the small, sometimes feminine men that drive these things actually have giant trucker friends that lend them a big rig to haul their moneymaker into town? do you think they ever get jealous of each other’s ‘ride’?

The ones in Nashville are all owned by a the local Amish community and they merely drive them in on the back roads. there are actually some nice tracts or land in the areas around nashville, in the so called “suburbs”, surrounding the colleges like Belmont (Go Bruins!) and Vanderbilt. I know several reformed Amish folks from Tennessee.
